Headquartered in Austin, Texas, Builder Homesite, Inc. (BHI), and its subsidiary, New Home Technologies, were founded in 2000 with the mission to bring homebuilding industry leaders together to develop world class technology solutions. Today, BHI is owned by a consortium of 36 of the nation’s largest homebuilders, and is considered the premier marketing resource for home builders.

BHI leverages the Internet as an alternative to newspapers and other traditional media outlets, allowing top tier builders to work together to provide comprehensive and diverse services to a broader set of consumers, seeking to buy a new home nationally. BHI targets prospective home buyers throughout the home buying cycle: early in the buying process, during active home search and once they’ve closed on a home. The company serves all home buyer segments including first time, move-ups, retirement, Spanish-speaking, urban and high rise, as well as green. Their largest builder segment is large suburban planned communities but they also serve the custom home builders, scattered lot building and the build on your own lot market.

BHI offers a wide variety of products for their home builder members such as listing syndication, online advertising, real estate agent outreach, television programing, photo and video media production, website design, mobile solutions and architectural assets/animation. BHI’s flagship product is, the leading new home website featuring the Internet's most comprehensive selection of new homes. BHI has partnered with over 300 real estate portals to create a “List Once. Be Everywhere.” solution for builders. Through both and these distribution partners the company reaches over 40 million actively searching new home shoppers every month.

The company’s efforts have resulted in significant and sustained growth which has earned them recognition as one of Austin’s fastest growing companies and placement on Inc. Magazines Inc. 500 list. They have also been finalists for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award three times. BHI focuses on creating technically sophisticated products and services that move the industry forward while offering cost savings and profitability improvement to their clients.

During the market downturn, new home sales fell by more than 75% from 15% to less than 8% of all market sales. BHI saw this as an opportunity for continued innovation and growth, while positioning the company to have a stronger connection with the consumer. As a result, BHI has not only survived this downturn but has actually grown during this period.

BHI is also focused on better understanding and influencing consumers earlier in the consideration process. To this point, BHI is actively pursuing new methods to reach all potential home buyers. BHI is also initiating communications and strategies to influence the public perception of new homes and educate the public on how to approach the tradeoffs inherent in a purchase decision. Much of this work will be done on behalf of the entire industry to promote the advantages of the modern new home. As a result BHI will be providing thought leadership to the industry for this initiative.

BHI recently hired a Vice President of Marketing and Industry Communications to lead and champion this initiative. The Director of Marketing will report directly to the Vice President.


The Director of Marketing will be a key player in driving BHI, and subsequently, the home building industry forward. This new role will help develop and execute BHI’s consumer outreach strategy, finding innovative ways to reach and engage potential and existing new home buyers. The Director of Marketing for BHI will:

  • Increase awareness among home shoppers nationally around the advantages of buying a new home relative to pre-owned homes;
  • Manage research partner relationship to track, benchmark and optimize effectiveness of initiative;
  • Manage agency partner relationships to develop positioning, message strategies and creative development;
  • Develop MARCOMM strategy and execution plan;
  • Use insights gathered from BHI data, as well as those from their member community, to better understand consumers’ expectations and purchasing behaviors;
  • Apply marketing best practices and processes to the organization to help create a marketing driven organization;
  • Own the marketing calendar, manage the budget and help build the team.


The Director of Marketing will be an innovative leader with 10+ years of marketing, branding and advertising experience. The ideal candidate will have experience creating fully integrated campaigns covering digital marketing strategies, PR and communications, customer acquisition, and brand marketing communications. The candidate will have experience in a variety of categories demonstrating success in influencing consumer perception and behavior. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of fostering communication and building relationships within a diverse and unique field of constituents. Further, this individual will be able to bring new ways of thinking about marketing to the company, building long term relationships with consumers without sacrificing short term goals.

  • Have an entrepreneurial background that ideally includes building a strategy within a new or emerging market or industry;
  • Have experience managing multiple agency partners
  • Have experience managing significant media and production budgets
  • Provide the necessary balance of strategic oversight and operational execution;

  • Operate with the highest integrity and business values.

An undergraduate degree is required, preferably in marketing or a related discipline. An advanced degree in marketing or management is desirable.
