AUSTIN, Texas – February 8, 2001 Builder Homesite, Inc., founded by ten of the premier US homebuilders to develop web-based solutions for the homebuilding marketplace, announced today that David Weekley Homes, ranked 26th by the 2000 Builder 100 and listed as a Forbes magazine top 500 private company, signed as the eleventh consortium member.
Builder Homesite’s products are being designed to provide consortium members with the benefits of new sources of revenue, open and un-biased distribution channels that promotes each builder member fairly, reductions in technology cost with the centralization of best practices in the industry and improved customer satisfaction. Additionally, the power of the consortium strengthens the industry for partnerships and revenue sharing opportunities.
Industry-sponsored marketplaces are leading the way into the new cyber frontier, according to a recent study by Jupiter Research. Currently, the homebuilder industry has been viewed as a $230 billion market in the United States. Consumer demand for technology during the homeownership process is evident in research studies that show that 62% of all new homebuyers already use the Internet for a source of information and service. Other research has revealed that over 85% of consumers will use or plan to use the Internet to shop for homes in the next two years.
