Recruits Chief Operating Officer and Two Vice Presidents
AUSTIN, TX – January 31, 2001 Builder Homesite, Inc. today announced the appointment of Michael K. Turner to Chief Operations Officer, Melissa Morman as Vice President of Builder Alliance & Customer Relationship Management, and Mark Johnson as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. This selection of strong leaders positions Builder Homesite, which was founded by a consortium of the nation’s premier homebuilders, to develop web-based solutions for the homebuilding marketplace.
These new executives are responsible for the tactical leadership, relationship management, strategic partnership and implementation of Builder Homesite’s mission to improve the home selection, buying, and ownership experience through the use of online technologies.

Most recently, Turner was co-founder and CEO of Bike.com, where he forged strategic relationships with leading bicycle product companies, hired an executive management team and secured a $20 million term sheet commitment. Prior to Bike.com, Dryken Technologies retained Turner for business development and executive consultation. Having received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Turner began his high-tech career with the founding of General Computer Systems in 1980. He grew the company to become a dominant supplier of facilities management software for the pre-clinical medical research industry. Turner eventually sold the company to venture capitalists in 1998.
Morman, with 17 years of consultative selling, account management, general management, as well as consumer services experience is responsible for leading and managing the consortium of builders, along with managing Builder Homesite’s partner relationships and consumer facing services. Most recently, Morman was with ClientLogic, a leading provider of integrated infrastructure and customer relationship management solutions, where she held several executive positions the last being Client Management Officer. Prior to that she was with R. R. Donnelley/Stream for over 10 years focusing on creating and developing global strategic partnerships with major technology leaders. Morman has a Bachelor of Science degree in Organization Communications, received Cum Laude from Ohio University.
Prior to joining Builder Homesite, Johnson was co-founder and president of HighWired.com, an online network of over 15,000 high schools and a leader in the online education industry. He originated the business concept and led the business to market dominance, including the raising of over $40 million in capital. For many of his accomplishments and leadership, the Massachusetts Interactive Media Council named Johnson the 2000 “Young Entreprenuer of the Year.” In addition, Johnson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Texas and a Master of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship from Babson College.
